Faith and Family

What does family mean to you? Is family a group that is always supportive? Is family a group that challenges and pushes you? Can family be both? This Sunday we look at the pre-modern family of Jacob and Joseph. The family that rejected one brother only to come back to him begging him for help. We will look at what we can learn about faith and family from this pre-modern family and we will look at the beloved sitcom Modern Family!  This family is so different but still suffers from some of the same problems. It will be a blessed Sunday!  Join us at 11 am in the chapel or on Facebook Live as we worship and grow!

Friends!

What are the TV shows you love? What are some of your favorite TV shows of all time? The stories TV shows tell can be funny, scary, intense, and hard. They often seem fantastic and totally unrealistic, but all of them are based on those common elements that make us human. That is especially true of sitcoms.

That is also true of the stories in the Bible. We can too often get caught up in did this happen, or what does this mean, or why did they do that? Instead, we should find the elements of our common humanity in those passages. Over the next few weeks, we will be starting a new worship series called Life, Laughter, and Faith.  In this series we will learn from some of the most important people in the BIble and how their stories connect with some of our favorite sitcoms. This week we talk about Friendships and how faith can transform them while we remember the iconic series Friends. Join us at 11 am in the chapel or on Facebook Live as we worship and grow!

I hope you will join us in person or online to hear the message God has put on Chris’ heart.  Join us at 11 am in the chapel or on Facebook Live as we worship and celebrate!

Renewed Church

For a few weeks, we have talked about what renewal and a renewed life of faith looks like. We have talked about renewed purpose, community, faith, and call. It has been an amazing series to study 1 Peter and look at the ways God is ready to renew our lives. This Sunday is the last week of our Renew series.

This week we move beyond our own lives and we ask how does God use us to renew our church? How does God plan to use our renewed life to make a difference in our church. This renewal often means us finding our place and our work in the church because as we learned last a few weeks ago we all are called! Join us Sunday as we dream and plan for a Renewed Church!  Join us at 11 am in the main Sanctuary or on Facebook Live as we worship and celebrate!

On the journey…

Have you ever been on a long journey? Maybe it was a long car ride or a long hike over multiple days. What did you do to get ready for the journey? Did you pack food and the gear you needed to get ready for that trip? Did you think about the obstacles you will run into? Did you focus on your end goal and what that will be?  I bet all of those things ran through your mind.

Sunday we celebrate our graduating High School Seniors. We have numerous seniors who have walked that road and taken a long journey. It is time to celebrate but also pray about the next journey they are about to embark on. Walking into adulthood is difficult and fraught with peril, but the good news is that God walks with us.  Deuteronomy 31 reminds us that we are never alone and that God walks alongside us on this journey.  Join us at 11 am in the main Sanctuary or on Facebook Live as we worship and celebrate!
