Mary…

Mary is such an interesting person!  She has been revered by some like a deity, and ignored by others.  Yet, this time of year we cannot forget her story.  She was Sent an Angel!  Why did God choose her for this most important task?  Why was she unique?  Join us Sunday as we dig into her story and the why of the very first follower of Jesus.

Advent is Here!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!  It was a great Sunday at Ignite and we are so excited to start the Advent season.  You can feel the excitement in the air!  Especially with the kids because children are such a huge blessing. This Sunday we are worshiping with our traditional service so that we can see the Children’s Christmas Musical.  We have kids from all services that are part of the musical so it is an exciting celebration of Christmas.

Giving Thanks

What an amazing year it has been. I am so thankful for so many things.  I am thankful for all God has been doing at Ignite and the ways that God is moving. This Sunday we gather to pause and be thankful.  Every week we take communion and one name for communion is “eucharist.”  This is greek for Thanksgiving! I love that we give thanks every week, but this week we stop to focus on giving thanks.  As part of that giving of thanks we have a chance to give back to our community.  The Grand Prairie food Co-op is always in need and this is a great chance to give back.  You can leave a donation on the altar rail or you can bring foods to donate.  The items most needed are:

Cans of Soup (large and small), Canned Peas, Mixed Canned Veggies,  Canned Tuna,  Canned Meat, Dry Beans, Rice, Mac and Cheese, Spaghetti, Peanut Butter

Please bring some of these or donations to give back this year as we give thanks.

Confirmation Sunday

I am so grateful for my friend Baranda leading us in worship on Sunday. I heard it was a blessed Sunday.  This Sunday is Confirmation Sunday!  Confirmation is a 10 week process where we helped our middle school students discern their faith journeys.  We taught them the faith and at the end asked them to decide if they want to claim this Christian faith as their own rather than it just being their parents home. We had 7 students that choose to join the church and accept their faith.  So this Sunday we have one big combined worship service where we will celebrate the confirmation of 7 students. I hope you will join us to celebrate their decision and the good news that God is doing it in their lives.

Armor of God

What a grace filled journey the book of Ephesians has been.  This is our last week to dig into this book and we discuss the ways God prepares us to go back into the world.  God calls us to armor ourselves for the coming hardships while knowing that we are to carry God’s love to all the corners of the world.  I am excited that my friend Baranda is preaching and I know it will be a great Sunday. Join us Sunday at 11!

The Difference in Our Lives…

What an amazing Sunday at Firehouse Gastro Park!  Check out our Facebook for some videos of the worship. We are also grateful for the ministry of Tori in leading worship as she goes onto new opportunities.  If you know someone interested in helping lead worship connect them with me! We are still in the middle of our study of Ephesians.  The first few weeks we have covered:

Part 1: God knows us and loves us
Part 2: God calls us and transforms our lives
Part 3: God brings us into loving community
Part 4: God’s grace changes us and pushes us to lead others in the faith

Paul is using this part of the book to speak about the ways following Christ makes us different.  It doesn’t affect just our heart but every way we live our lives. We dig into the nitty gritty this week of what living differently looks like and how our lives change from those differences.  Join us Sunday at 11!

Worship at Firehouse!

I hope you have been blessed by our study of Ephesians so far.  For the first three weeks we have covered chapters 1-3 and in those places Paul is telling a story of what the gospel, or good news, is and the process for living into it.  What we saw:

Part 1: God knows us and loves us
Part 2: God calls us and transforms our lives
Part 3: God brings us into loving community

Now we go into the second half of this letter.  Once we have committed to the life of following Jesus and joined the community of faith what next?  The answer is we dig into living as Christians and that is what we will cover the next 3 weeks.  This week we talk about how God calls us to pull together and work for others.  How we all have a role to play and a place to serve.  I am excited to dig into this with you!  This Sunday is special as we are meeting at Firehouse Gastro Park, join us Sunday at 11!
